Fiction Reviews: The Hobbit

 


The Hobbit is a fantasy novel written by JRR Tolkien. Bilbo Baggins is a Hobbit who lives in a peaceful and greener shire alone, he loves smoking a long pipe sitting comfortably to observe the surroundings.


His life as a catch potato is interrupted by a mysterious man with a long and white beard, a pointed hat and a personalized cane.


His home is invaded by 13 dwarves led by Thorin Oakshield.


After a while Bilbo will join the company for an unexpected journey.


Their destination is the Lonely Mountain (Erebor) to reappropriate the treasure stolen by Smaug the dragon.


Their journey is dense with mortal obstacles such as the trolls, goblins, wolves and other evil creatures.


Bilbo is nicknamed The Burglar and will be central to killing the dragon and saving the lives of the dwarves thanks also to a ring that makes him invisible.


After the death of Smaug the dragon all living beings join forces to take possession of the huge treasure guarded by the dragon this will cause a cruel battle.



Bilbo will return to his comfortable and peaceful life proud of his unexpected journey.
