The Tyger (By: William Blake)
Tyger tyger, burning bright,
In the forests of the night:
What immortal hand or eye,
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?
In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thy eyes!
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand, dare size the fire?
And what shoulder, & what art,
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand? & what dread feet?
What the hammer? what the chain,
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? what dread grasp,
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?
When the stars threw down their spears
And water'd heaven with their tears:
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the Lamb make thee?
Tyger, Tyger burning bright,
In the forests of the night:
What immortal hand or eye,
Dare frame the fearful symmetry?
By: William Blake
The Tyger has been created by God 'In the forests of night', this imply a sort of cooperation with the evil, represented by the 'burning bright.' as his pride of being a powerful tyger, that can decide for another living being the death or the life.
In the second stanza, the questions are to understand why the tyger has been created by God so powerful and why the tyger aspire to be God with his freewill, why the tyger feels pleasure for the evil? hasn't he a heart? where this pleasure come from? by an evil God?
Who has shaped the brain of the tyger, why this supernatural entity gave him 'the deadly terrors clasp!'
Is it the evil inside the tyger able to defeat the good God, why the good God has created the lamb, why the good God gave up?
In my opinion in the tyger there is the good represented by his heart and the evil, represented by his mind, they can coexist, who will prevail? the opposite of the tyger is the lamb, synonymous of peace, salvation and purity, the philosophical dilemma is to understand why the Lamb has been created by God, it will serve to satisfy the hunger of the tyger? or better the evil, in every human beings?
