Poem Reviews: Personal Talk (By: William Wordsworth)
Iambic Pentameter, Limerick, Sonnet, Blank Verse
Comment:
In the first stanza the inner voice tells us that the poet is a taciturn, he dislike to talk to his family of frivolous arguments, but loves to be silent and reflect and "And listen to the flapping of the flame, / Or kettle whisphering its faint undersong." (1st Stanza)
In the second stanza, there is a strong criticism of the adult world, where one lives day to day, he asks to remain out the society, but applauds the children, who have a more balanced world, and have a distant goal to reach, namely that of remaining balanced even as adults in the judgment that is the result of long reasoning.
