Oil on Canvas, painted by: Titian (1488-90 - 1576) Italian painter, Venetian School, Renaissance.
London, The National Gallery
Description
The half-naked woman with the bow is Diana as she pierces Actaeon with an arrow with two dogs, one of these is biting him, doing everything to free himself from the grip. here we see him from behind.
The scene was taken from the metamorphoses written by the poet Ovid, here we see a cloudy sky and a gloomy wood painted, a man on horseback and two guys watching the scene, according to critics they should be San Rocco and Gothardus.
