InterActiveNovel: The Fall Of The House Of Husher (By: Edgar Allan Poe)
Aaron was seated on an uncomfortable chair, finely decorated with festoons and animals of every kind, his arms were resting on a huge walnut desk, in the center of the table there was a letter of fine and very thick paper on which the address was written in blue ink and a red seal made of wax. He raised his eyes, and saw a man finely dressed and unshaved. The artificial assistant suggested to Aaron that his fantasy name is Frank, but in the novel written by Shirley Jackson he has no name.
Around them there were many shelves full of ancient books written in Latin and Greek and then a modestly made piece of furniture which contained two glasses and some crockery.
The butler was close to Frank, very attentive to satisfy the desires of both.
Once he finished reading the letter Frank told the butler to pack his suitcase as soon as possible and then said that his friend was in trouble.
The carriage windows were blacked out, the two men were completely isolated by the external world with the exception of the coachman.
After three hours they arrived at Husher's house.
The appearance of the house was ghostly, there was humidity due to a lake nearby, the black clouds were illuminated by a pale moon.
There wasn't any wind, everything was still, absolute silence.
Aaron threw a pebble into the lake and it made no concentric circles, the impact didn't make any sound.
The decaying trees were bent towards them, it seemed that they wanted to hug them, the leaves were like tears.
They entered the house and they drank tea and coffee with Roderick, the own of the house, and a butler who was not handsome.
Aaron told Frank he had read her story written by Jackson, he wanted to know why Madeleine wasn't buried in a cemetery, Frank told him it was an old custom not satisfied with the answer asked him a question did you bury her alive? and if so, why? no reply.
The day after the trio were for the umpteenth time in the library, Frank decided to read aloud an old book, Aaron appreciated it very much and soon noticed that the noises were very close to him it seemed to be in the cinema, then he was disconcerted when he found himself inside his favorite cinema in London. After a few seconds, he was in the library, but this time he didn't hear Frank's voice well, which was disturbed by a very loud noise, a real heartbeat.
Frank looked at Roderick they were terrorized. Madeline was taking revenge prying on their dirty consciousness, the blood boiled...
Outside the house of Husher the moon's face was dripping
with blood too. This immersive experience made Aaron realise that conscience can lead to mental insanity, Madeline's teach.
