Painting Reviews: The Blue Circus (By: Marc Chagall)

Oil On Canvas

1953
By: Marc Chagall 1887 - 1985 - Belarusian, French Painter
Movement: Cubism, Expressionism

Description:

This painting narrates the everyday life of an acrobat female, she has blue long hair and she is passing through the trapeze after throwing a bunch of flowers. On her left there is the eye of a fish, a hen playing the drum. On the right there is a half-moon playing the violin, and a horse inside a container, a woman with a long stick, who seems to be beating the horse's back, surely a disturbing figure that breaks the harmony of the painting.
