Literary Criticism: The Black Prince

The Blanc Prince is set in London in modern times.

The plot is linear, it narrates the life of the main character Bradley Pearson.

The complexity of this novel is the actions and their relative consequences on the others.

Bradley Pearson is a failed writer, he is not more curious on the facts of the others, he hasn't story to narrate, he needs a place where to think.

Bradley has a close friend Arnold Baffin, he represents his right opposite, he is married to Rachel Baffin and their daughter Julian Baffin, he is a successful writer.

Destiny creates chaos, Bradley falls in love with Julian, Rachel feels sexually attracted by Bradley.

In this novel the themes are art, jealousy, love, envy, fiction, reality that will form a very complex mosaic.

The first apex is when Arnold tells to have killed his wife Rachel, when Priscilla Peason the sister of Bradley commit suicide for her isolation and when Rachel call Bradley to clean up the crime scene where she has killed her husband, Arnold.

Rachel accuses Bradley of killing her husband, Bradley is convicted and imprisoned.

This is a very fundamental passage, everyone believes that the assassin is Bradley but in reality, it is not so.

Bradley's lack of creativity is due to the belief that art is linked to eros.

There are two concepts of love, for Rachel love is free where there are no restrictions of any kind.

Instead, Bradley takes inspiration from Plato who said that “Human love is the gateway to all knowledge” , this makes him a blind man, unable to write a new story.

Another interesting aspect is the differences between the real and fictional world, or better the life of Bradley is more fictional and less real?

The villain of this story is the inability of humans to judge others,  Bradley Pearson will pay the consequences.
