Fiction Reviews: A Christmas Tree (By: Charles Dickens)

Through the eyes of an adult omniscient voice, we are inside a room where at the centre there is a Christmas tree.

Around it there are children and parents.Looking deeply we see that this isn't a common Christnas tree, it has something special.

The watches have taken life; the hands are independent of time and move forward and backward as they please..

Every desire is satisfied and takes form.

The omniscient voice tells us that under this Christmas tree there are  toys.

The omniscient voice remembers The Tumbler, a fat man with the eyes of a lobster, and a mask made of paper.

In the second part of this short story, the narrative voice tells us the most famous fables, such as the Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf, Harlequin and Pantaloon, the Orphan Child, Ali Baba, the Cavalier In Green, over the fireplace. etc.

Through the dream the narrative voice listens to their dialogues, and also he can interact with them.

The Red Riding - Hood tells him of cruelty and treachery.

There are also ghosts' stories.

An old maiden lady really saw the Orphan Boys.

According to him, this tale has not been told correctly.

The narrator says that this boy's story is connected to his family.

The story ends with: "This is the commemoration of the law of love and kindness, mercy and compassion. This, in remembrance of Me!"
