Literary Criticism: A Confession (Tolstoy)

Being an autobiographical story the main character is Leo Tolstoy.
It is set in Russia and tells his story from the age of eighteen to the age of fifty.
His anxiety is about the impossibility of a reply to an existential question i.e. the meaning of life.
The apex is when he thinks about suicide being inspired by Solomon and Schopenhauer on they thoughts on the inutility of life.
