Philosophical Reviews: The Birds
In this short story, it is interesting to reflect on the silence of the radio announcer. The families are now isolated from the outside world. Outside their own houses, death awaits, with the exception of the birds, which are intent on killing the last living humans.
Mr. and Mrs. Trigg lost their lives due to their arrogance in trying to overpower nature. Mr. Nat promises his family that he will protect them, but the wooden planks are giving way, death is near, and he lights his last cigarette while accepting his fate. Yet the ending remains open.
